Well, only a year and a half later, I snatched an invitation to the Vuelta a Valparaiso. Division 2 tour, tough race, that I thought was best suited to Gregorian Jurca and less to the less experienced Avram Bucur, whom I named vicecaptain.
Oh, how wrong I was. Even worse, after three or four stages it seemed like I was right so did not try to change anything. Jurca was in 5th place, close to the leader, and with the king stage coming up I thought I finally nailed a tour participation.
Little did I know. In the king's stage, Jurca had bad legs and Bucur took the 10th place. Jurca was still 8th (if I remember correctly). And the the final stage happened, and suddenly I was out of the first 9 places in the general classification, with Bucur taking the 10th place and Jurca the 12th. This is also a way how you can screw a tour participation, and it seems I am quite good at this. So good, that I am a bit sad I can only do it every two years or so!

Managing to be there for the 1 hour that tours have places available before filling is achievement enough. If only tours had 32 places available, you could screw up tours more often :)
I only got 2000 $ out of the tour, that is really depressing!
you've successfully depressed me
